Causeway Being Upgraded to LED Lighting

CAUSEWAY LIGHTING BEING UPGRADED TO LED

Inside lane closures expected along the Causeway between 9am and 3pm Monday through Friday for the duration of the project.

GALVESTON, TX (April 10, 2017) –  Driving along the Causeway at night is about to get a lot brighter thanks to a $225,000 project to replace 172 fixtures along the bridge. Crescent Electric have begun replacing the current light fixtures with LED lighting. On Monday April 10th, crews began at the base of the Causeway southbound and are working their way to 59th Street. They will then come back and do the northbound side beginning at 59th Street and working towards the mainland.

The project includes replacing the fixtures as well as installing inline fuses at the base of each pole that are rated to support the new LED lighting. The LED solution will offer a longer life span, require less maintenance, and consume less energy.

EXPECTED LANE CLOSURES

Contingent on weather, drivers can anticipate inside lane closures between 9am and 3pm Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project. Crescent Electric anticipates having all 172 fixtures replaced within 3 to 4 weeks. Crews will have proper signage and a designated safety vehicle telling drivers to move around the team as they work.
