We want you! City seeks Galveston to fill vacancies on Boards & Commissions!

City Council Hopes to Fill Open Seats with Engaged Citizens

(GALVESTON, TX) May 1, 2017 – The Galveston City Council is encouraging Islanders to apply for board and commission appointments.  The system of boards and commissions provides an opportunity for residents who have special experience, expertise, and interests to serve their community. Although each city board and commission has a different purpose and function, all serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council.  
Seats are currently open on several boards.  Citizens interested in serving on the Galveston Planning Commission, Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees or the Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees must submit their completed applications in advance of the interviews that City Council will be conducting. Those interviews are scheduled to occur on the following dates:
• Planning Commission and Wharves Board of Trustees: May 12th at 9:00 a.m.
• Park Board Of Trustees: June 7th at 9:00 a.m.
All candidates must meet basic requirements including a demonstrated interest in civic and community improvement, submission of a completed application, and proof of residency.  Please note, some board or commission positions may have additional requirements or preferred areas of expertise.
