MOODY FOUNDATION COMMITS $1MILLION TO HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF EFFORTS IN GALVESTON COUNTY
Galveston, TX – September 1, 2017 – After a seven-day event that seemed to continue with no end in sight, the sun returned to Galveston County on Wednesday with hope on the horizon. Moody Foundation trustees, Frances Moody-Dahlberg Elizabeth "Elle" Moody, and Ross R. Moody, unanimously voted to commit $1 million dollars to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts on Galveston Island and in Galveston County.
“The Moody family has been incredibly generous to the Island over the years, and it comes as no surprise that they would step up to the plate again,” said Mayor James D Yarbrough. “The Moody Foundation will, no doubt, work diligently to ensure that these funds are distributed and managed in ways that will bring restoration and hope to individuals and businesses across the County.”
The committed funds will augment the many ongoing relief efforts that are currently underway by communities and nonprofit agencies across the county.
