As Fall Settles Over the Island, the Galveston Trolley Reduces Operating Hours during the Week
September 29, 2017 – As fall settles over the island, the Galveston Trolley Service will reduce its hours for weekday operations. During the week, Monday through Thursday, the rubber wheel trolleys will operate each day from 11am to 7pm. On the weekends, Friday through Sunday, the trolleys will operate each day from 10am to 10pm. These changes are effective October 2nd.
The trolleys will follow the new schedule through spring; however, changes to the schedule are anticipated as we welcome our larger events to the island. The City plans to utilize the trolleys during the upcoming Lonestar Rally, Dickens on the Strand, and Mardi Gras to move users along modified routes. The modified routes and schedules will be announced prior to the events.
In recognition of “Galveston Cares” weekend on the Island, the trolleys will be free to ride the weekend of September 29th through October 1st. Normal rates will resume on October 2nd. As a reminder, the fee to ride is $1 for adults, while minors who are accompanied by adults can ride for free. Riders will need to bring exact change to place in the fare box; drivers do not have the ability to make change for riders. The trolleys pass each stop on the trolley route every 30 minutes. Those interested in utilizing the service can visit the website at www.galvestontrolley.com for a complete list of stops, approximate schedule, and more information about the history of trolleys on the Island.
