Galveston Fire Department Partners with Domino’s to Promote Fire Prevention Week
October 3, 2017 – In recognition of fire prevention month, the Galveston Fire Department has partnered with both Domino’s locations on the Island to help promote the message that “Every Second Counts”. The department will spend the first three Saturday’s in October delivering pizzas to resident’s doorsteps in hopes that they find working smoke detectors. Upon arrival, the responding crews will do a brief check and if they find working smoke alarms throughout the home, the resident’s order is free. If the smoke alarms are not working, the firefighters will replace the batteries or install fully functioning alarms in the home.
“In a fire, every second counts. Smoke alarms are undoubtedly the most important thing you can do to ensure the safety of your family should a fire occur in your home,” said Fire Chief Mike Wisko. “Second to that is to have a plan. This creative effort by the department is a great way for us to remind residents about the importance of talking about fire prevention and safety with your family.”
Residents who are within the service area of the Broadway Domino’s location could be selected if they order on October 7th and the 21st from 5:00-7:00pm. Residents who are within the service area of the 61st Street Domino’s location could be selected if they order on October 14th from 5:00-7:00pm.
