(GALVESTON, TX) March 6, 2018 – The Galveston City Council is encouraging Islanders to apply for a position on one of the City’s boards and commissions. The system of boards and commissions provides an opportunity for residents who have special experience, expertise, and interests to serve their community. Although each city board and commission has a different purpose and function, all serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council.
A seat is currently open on the Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees. Citizens interested in serving on the board must submit their completed applications in advance of the interviews that City Council will be conducting. Those interviews are scheduled to occur on the following dates:
• Wharves Board of Trustees: March 22nd at 9:00 a.m.
• Appointment will be announced on April 26, 2018 at the City Council meeting.
All candidates must meet basic requirements including a demonstrated interest in civic and community improvement, submission of a completed application, and proof of residency. Please note, some board or commission positions may have additional requirements or preferred areas of expertise.
