The 9th Annual Galveston Island Wine Festival returns April 20th and 21st to Saengerfest Park at 23rd and Strand. This festival features approximately 100 wines from more than 25 vineyards around the world. Attendees can enjoy a Grand Tasting tour, a variety of sampling, and live music. A Champagne 5K Fun Run will also take place at 9:00am on Saturday, April 21st, beginning at 28th and Seawall (Beerfoot Brewery). The 5K will run along the south side of Seawall from approximately 28th Street to 49th Street and back. The City of Galveston will have 23rd Street between Harborside and Strand temporarily closed on Saturday, April 21st from approximately 6:00am to 8:00pm to accommodate the festival. ED FEST is an annual event, sponsored by the City of Galveston’s Families, Children, and Youth Board, with an emphasis on education! This year the event will be Saturday, April 21st from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM at Menard Park (28th & Seawall). ED FEST is a way to promote education across the lifespan by showcasing the Kindergarten through College schools in Galveston and honoring local educators and student achievers by recognizing their individual success. There will be activities featuring programs from both public and private institutions, arts & crafts, award presentations and stage performances, as well as free books for kids & fun for the whole family!
