Responsibilities

The Finance Department is accountable to manage the City of Galveston's finances in a responsible manner, produce an accurate and timely financial report, as well as develop and implement the financial policies of the city. This department must also insure that the city is in compliance with the annual submission of the required Annual Comprehensive Financial Report by March 29 to City Council.

The Finance Department is responsible for the following functions within the city:

Independent Registered Municipal Advisor Certificate - March 1, 2021
By publicly posting the following written disclosure, City of Galveston intends that market participants receive and use it for purposes of the independent registered municipal advisor exemption to the SEC Municipal Advisor Rule. City of Galveston has retained an independent registered municipal advisor. City of Galveston is represented by and will rely on its municipal advisor Huntington Capital Markets to provide advice on proposals from financial services firms concerning the issuance of municipal securities and municipal financial products (including investments of bond proceeds and escrow investments). The individual with primary responsibility for advising City of Galveston on such matters is James Niederle. This certificate may be relied upon until March 31, 2024 or otherwise withdrawn by us.
