City monitoring potential hazardous weather

The City of Galveston is monitoring and preparing for the potential of heavy rains beginning tonight (Friday) into the weekend.

The U.S. National Weather Service is forecasting hazardous weather moving through the region today and into tomorrow. The heaviest rains and possible thunderstorms for Galveston are expected to begin Friday night and into Saturday morning. This would also coincide with elevated tides.

The City of Galveston is taking precautions and asking that residents please do the same. In case of street flooding, please collect any loose items in your yard that could blow or float into a storm drain, which slows drainage. Also remember to avoid driving on any roadways with standing water.
