June 1 marks first day of hurricane season: Have a plan

June 1 marks the first day of hurricane season and no more appropriate time to make sure you have a plan in place.

 How can you prepare? Visit ready.gov/hurricanes to see what plans you should put in place, what to pack in your emergency kit and how to prepare your home. 

 Locally, make sure you have an evacuation plan in place. If you need assistance during an evacuation, be sure to sign up for the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry at https://tdem.texas.gov/stear/ You may also register by phone by dialing 2-1-1. 

 Sign up for local alerts at galvestontx.gov/notifyme so you can be sure to stay in the know of what’s happening in the community.
