Free, walk-up COVID-19 testing available Thursday in Galveston

GALVESTON, TX – November 6, 2020 – The State of Texas is offering free testing on Thursday at Galveston’s Fire Station #1 at a time when the number of coronavirus cases is increasing locally and across the country. 

The Texas Department of Emergency Management will provide free, drive-up testing on Thursday, November 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. People who wish to get tested do not need to schedule an appointment in advance, but will be required to show a picture ID. Galveston residency is not required.

Testing will be held at Fire Station #1, 823 26th Street, in downtown Galveston. Please enter from Ball Street. 

As of Thursday, there were 873 active cases of COVID-19 in Galveston County, according to the health district. Continue taking precautions by practicing social distancing, wearing masks and washing your hands frequently.

El Departamento de Manejo de Emergencias de Texas proporcionará pruebas gratuitas en el vehículo el jueves 12 de noviembre de 8 a.m. a 4 p.m. Las personas que deseen hacerse la prueba no necesitan programar una cita con anticipación, pero deberán mostrar una identificación con foto. No se requiere la residencia en Galveston.
