City facilities reopening to public on a limited basis

City of Galveston facilities will partially reopen to the public beginning Monday, January 25 at 8 a.m. The City will reopen its Utility Billing Department in City Hall to the public and allow in-person meetings by appointment only with other city departments.

The City of Galveston has provided all city services without interruption. The City has proven its ability to meet citizen needs electronically and will continue to do so, however, we are also allowing meetings by appointment with social distancing precautions and face coverings.  The City continues to operate at full capacity and during normal business hours.

While the utility billing department will reopen to the public, we also accept payments through the drive-in window and online, and encourage this form of payment. Residents may pay their utility bill online at www.galvestontx.gov/paymywaterbill. Municipal Court, 601 54th Street, remains open for payments, which may be completed by phone at 800-530-8084, municipalonlinepayments.com/galvestontx or at the payment window.

Similarly, planning and development services, finance, and human resources encourage residents to conduct business online or over the phone when possible. If you need assistance, please call the department to set up appointment. A directory of the primary phone numbers are available below and your call will be directed to the appropriate staff member.

As a reminder, the city is following all COVID-19 mandates and precautions set forth by the Governor’s Office at open.texas.gov, which includes wearing face coverings in public spaces. We ask that everyone do their part to prevent community spread.

For more information about contacting the city and using online services, please visit galvestontx.gov.
