You may have spotted the trolleys out testing this week
After being out of service for more than 10 years, the Galveston Island Trolley will open to passengers this summer.
Three of the four historic trolleys have been beautifully restored after getting damaged during Hurricane Ike, and visitors to the island will soon see the charming historic rail trolleys traversing through downtown Galveston.
For now, the trolleys will be limited to the downtown loop service as testing is underway. We anticipate the trolleys making appearances for testing each week throughout May. We'll begin accepting passengers this summer.
Stay alert when walking or driving downtown. The trolleys weigh five tons, and drivers are unable to bring them to a stop quickly.
