The City of Galveston is excited to announce the addition of two new outdoor fitness courts, funded by grants from the Community Development Block Grant facility improvement program.
Just in time to help you meet your health and fitness goals in the New Year, the City of Galveston is opening two outdoor fitness courts at city parks. One is located in Menard Park near the McGuire Dent Recreation Center and is already opened. The other is at the Wright Cuney Recreation Center and will open upon completion later this month.
Both courts were funded through grants from the CDBG program. The courts are from the National Fitness Campaign, a firm that designs and builds outdoor fitness equipment. The courts were installed in December, which include rings, step up boxes, and pull up bars.
“The City is adding to the amenities available at our public parks with two new outdoor fitness areas providing greater opportunities for residents to improve their health and wellness,” City Manager Brian Maxwell said.
The courts are available daily from sunrise until sunset at Menard Park and Wright Cuney parks and are free. At each court there are QR codes to download the free fitness app and find sample workout routines using the equipment.
