[ARCHIVED] Waves of Information For The Week of July 16th

Welcome Waves of Information for the week of July 16th!

The Galveston Police Department has another opportunity for you to earn the badge coming up this September 14th.

In an effort to maintain a fully staffed department, the City will be hosting a civil service exam on September 14th at the Galveston Island Convention Center to ensure that the next round of cadets is trained and ready to take the reigns as positions open at the Department. The civil service exam is the first step in applying for the department. Those who pass will then be required to pass a physical agility test and extensive background investigation. To view the requirements, a preview of the agility test, and to answer the call to serve the Galveston community as a police officer,  sign up today at www.galvestontx.gov/earnit.

THIS Saturday, Country music star Bri Bagwell will headline a free concert as part of the island’s Boots ‘N Eats on the Beach at Stewart Beach.

Boots 'N Eats on the Beach will take place from 3-7:30 p.m. July 21 next to the Stewart Beach pavilion, featuring a food truck festival and a free concert from Bagwell, a four-time Texas Female Vocalist of the Year. Attendees can also enjoy the beach, a kid’s water slide and other park amenities. Families will also be able to participate in the Galveston Family Beach Challenge taking place that day. Parking at Stewart Beach is $15 per car. For information, visit www.galvestonbeachinfo.com.

Do you have a dog that loves the water? Get ready to “hang four” (paws, of course) at the Sixth Annual Ohana Surf Dog event on Saturday, July 21, 2018.

The wet, wild and waggin’ activities run from 8 to 11 AM at 27th and Seawall Boulevard in Galveston, Texas.
