As a precautionary measure, city closes pool and recreation centers

Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Galveston will close the Lasker Park Community Pool and the municipal recreation centers, McGuire Dent and Wright Cuney, until further notice. This is in response to concerns about the Coronavirus.

There are currently no cases of COVID-19, but the City is taking this proactive step as a precautionary measure.

The closure will be assessed on a day-to-day basis and we will keep the public updated.

City staff is closely monitoring developments of the Coronavirus and participating in daily conference calls with the Center for Disease Control, the Galveston County Health District, the U.S. Coast Guard and other local partners.
