Appoint citizens to help Clint cut down and alert to panhandling and prostitution between church and strand. Fine repeat panhandlers. Most homeless will not go to salvation army either because of their major or because they drank a beer and now not allowed or don't have the 5.00 to stay there. The newest batch of homeless say they were brought here from montrose. Some are violent or appear they could become that way quickly. The semi homeless in the rooming houses are notorious panhandlers. They collect monies on the street and buy a beer. A couple of older females have turned tricks in alley between church and postoffice off 21st. Trust me it wasn't the view I wanted from my window. There is also the mentally ill.

I travel to Galveston 4 times a year. It is a long way from the Houston airports. I use Uber to Galveston, but on way back I use a taxi.
You have no idea about how bad Galveston looks to not have...

You have no idea about how bad Galveston looks to not have Uber. The experience is like night and day. Uber is so much faster , cleaner, and less expensive.
Perhaps you don't care about visitors , but the lack of Uber makes Galveston look like an undeveloped backwater , rather than a tourist destination.

I travel to Galveston 4 times a year. It is a long way from the Houston airports. I use Uber to Galveston, but on way back I use a taxi.
You have no idea about how bad Galveston looks to not have Uber. The experience is like night and day. Uber is so much faster , cleaner, and less expensive.
Perhaps you don't care about visitors , but the lack of Uber makes Galveston look like an undeveloped backwater , rather than a tourist destination.

I'm currently a resident of the downtown area. When I first moved in I was told that the parking lot was full due to the fact that there are about 20 spots for 80 units. There is 2hr parking in front of my building and very limited free parking with no time limit off 21st street. Although there is the parking off 21st that parking is usually full especially since it is now summer and people don't want to pay for the new metered parking. I think that it would be great for downtown residents to have some time of permit that would allow us to park in the 2hr parking for a time frame greater than 2 hrs. I have received 2 tickets for going over the 2 hr limit which is frustrating because there is simply no where else to park. I believe that having a parking pass option for downtown residents would be a great improvement and make life a tad bit easier for all residents.

Horses should not be allowed on East Beach. The horses are scaring people and leaving piles of manure. Horses can get spooked. The people who live and/or rent on this beach are very uncomfortable...

Horses should not be allowed on East Beach. The horses are scaring people and leaving piles of manure. Horses can get spooked. The people who live and/or rent on this beach are very uncomfortable when the horses go by. Quality of life has been reduced by these horses.

We went out yesterday on a fishing charter off Pier 19. The amount of smoking on the ship ruined it for me and my child. It was gagging. And you are stuck in your assigned spot so can't move away. I had a child with me who was seasick and I was green too mainly from the smoke. Complained to the deck hands but they said
"it's outside" but we were downwind and has to ensure it for hours and hours. Truly torture. A fishing boat is not a bar but a transit vessel and like any other transit vessel should not permit smoking or at least have designated areas so nonsmokers and children are not subjected to it. I think this needs to be made law. There are health risks for second hand smoke, and when I want to have outdoor recreation and breathe fresh air smokers should not be allowed to ruin it for everyone else.
